Hi Ruben,
Any idea when the Sargassum influx really took off in the Canaries? The earliest example i could find for Madeira was 29-05-2023 but it lasted until 27-12-2023 before i started to see large fields of Sargassum in Porto Moniz. Gr. M.

A beached bird. Its arrival was linked to the massive deposits of Sargassum algae produced on our coasts during the last months. The species regularly breeds in the Canary Archipelago, but there are also migrant individuals during migration periods, like this, which normally are difficult to see. |
