Best verwarrend is dat IOC de ondersoort frenata uit o.a Ethiopië als deze soort beschouwd maar of HBW dat doet is me niet duidelijk als je naar het verschil in de verspreidingsgebied kaart (daar een Arabische endeem) en de fotokaart eronder (daar is Ethiopië wel meegenomen bij deze soort) kijkt.

Zo te zien beschouwt HBW frenata als soort en IOC beschouwt frenata als ondersoort van bottae. Ze geven beide hetzelfde verspreidingsgebied aan voor frenata. 

@Max, bij HBW verschilt de contribution map van van de distribution map. HBW geeft aan wat contribution map is:  In the Maps block of the species accounts and the family chapters you will find a new Contributions map, which anonymously displays aggregated data from the IBC and My Birding. This is a great tool to discover the locations where a species is most commonly seen!

For some particular species this map supplies remarkable information, like for long-distance migratory species and seabirds, as you can find out where they are most often observed. It is also informative for species with established populations outside of their native distributional ranges, as you can easily see how they have dramatically increased their ranges.

Kortom: als mensen niet de juiste (onder)soort invoeren dan krijg je dit soort uitkomsten bij gesplitste soorten.
