@Edu, het is een Least Concern soort voor Birdlife en wanneer je waarschijnlijk nu voor het eerst een wintertrip naar Japan onderneemt vraag je je af "waar heeft die man het over?", maar zoals je ziet er zijn meer slechte jaren dan goede voor de soort.

Hierbij het soortenlijstje (toch iets minder dan 62) 01 Ring-necked Pheasant – ssp: karpowi – 1 ex. seen well at the Botanical Gardens. 02 Mallard – 40 seen at open water places. 03 Eurasian Teal – 1 female at the Summer Palace. 04 Smew – 1 female at the Summer Palace. 05 Goosander – 11 ex. in one flock at the Summer Palace. 06 Little Grebe – 11 seen at the Summer Palace. 07 Grey Heron – 1 flew over Olympic Park. 08 Eurasian Kestrel – 2 seen along the way. 09 Eurasian Sparrow Hawk – 1 seen at the Ridge. 10 “Eastern” (Common) Buzzard – 2 ex. at the Botanical Gardens. 11 Common Moorhen – 1 seen flying in a stream along the way, unexpected with all this ice. 12 Oriental Turtle Dove – ssp: orientalis – A total of 15 seen spread over the visited places, some good views, big birds. 13 Spotted Dove – Quite common in the visited parks, this is a new colonizer so far north. 14 Grey-capped pygmy woodpecker ssp: scintilliceps – 2 birds (with a barred (like powder sugar) white back both at M. 15 Great-spotted Woodpecker ssp: cabanisi – Quite common in the visited parks. 16 Grey-headed Woodpecker – 5 ex. seen in the Botanical Gardens, often calling. 17 Chinese Grey Shrike ssp: sphenocercus – 1 ex. on 18-01, along the road. 18 Azure-winged Magpie – Common in the Botanical Gardens. 19 Red-Billed Blue Magpie – Common in all visited places. 20 Eurasian Magpie – Common at al visited places. 21 Large Billed Crow – Common. 22 Japanese Waxwing – A little flock of 25 seen flying around at M, nice dark red tail bands… 23 Eastern Grey Tit – Quite common at the visited area’s 24 Yellow-bellied Tit – Quite common at the Botanical Gardens in small flocks 25 Marsh Tit – A total of 5 seen at M. 26 “Songar” Tit – 2 seen briefly at M. 27 Silver-Throated Tit – Quite common at M and the Botanical Gardens, seen very well. 28 Chinese Hill Warbler – 12 birds seen and heard at M and Botanical Gardens, of these two seen very well at M, great views with all the details seen. 29 Chinese Bulbul – 3 ex. at the Olympic Gardens sleeping in the reeds. 30 Pere David’s Laughingthrush – Quite common at M and the Botanical Gardens. 31 Vinous-Throated Parrotbill – Common in small flocks at all visited sites. 32 Winter Wren – A total of 5 seen. 33 Goldcrest – 2 birds seen. 34 Eurasian Nuthatch ssp: amurensis – 1 at M, giving nice views with the contrasting whitethroat and orange belly. This is a rare bird so far south. 35 Chinese Nuthatch – Quite common in the Botanical Gardens and M. 36 Chinese Blackbird – About 17 seen, mainly at the Summer Palace, different birds, looking bigger with a different call than our Blackbirds. 37 Black-Throated Thrush – 2 female type birds seen both at the Botanical Gardens, one at the lower elevations one at the higher. 38 Red-Throated Thrush – A total of 5 seen at M and the Botanical Gardens, some nice males. 39 Dusky Thrush – 2 adult birds at the Summer Palace. 40 Naumann’s Thrush – The commonest thrush during the trip about 30 seen. 41 Red-Flanked Bluetail – 2 birds seen at the Botanical Gardens, of which one was a young male. 42 Tree Sparrow – Quite common. 43 Siberian Accentor – A total of 14 seen at M and at the Ridge, often in small flocks. 44 Water Pipit – 1 bird flew away from us, calling (so no japonicas) at the Olympic Park. 45 Chaffinch – 1 immature male at the Ridge. 46 Brambling – Very common, mainly at the Ridge, 1000ths seen. 47 Oriental Greenfinch – Quite common in the lower parts, often in small flocks at roosting places 48 Eurasian Siskin – 3 at the Ridge between the Bramblings *49 PALLAS’S ROSEFINCH – A total of 78 seen of which less than ten adult males, eleven at M and 67 at The Ridge. Seen and heard (tsweee call) very well, some were mixed in with the Bramblings but most of them where on there own. Reddish rump was very obvious. 50 Hawfinch – 21 seen in one loose flock at the Botanical Gardens. 51 Chinese Grosbeak – 2 birds, one male and one female at the lower Botanical Gardens. 52 Godlewski’s Bunting – About 15 seen at M and the Ridge. 53 Meadow Bunting – 1 male seen quite well at M 54 Tristram’s Bunting – 3 birds seen at the Botanical Gardens, in winter plumage, one male based on the warm buff underpart color. 55 Little Bunting – 1 in flight at Olympic Park. 56 Elegant Bunting – A total of 25 seen at M and the Ridge, giving nice views.

Gaaf hoor zo'n tripje Max! Die Pallas doet me in meerdere opzichten aan Haakbek denken... In Shetland hebben ze er recent weer een gevonden (al blijkt die er achteraf al sinds november te zitten) dus wie weet scharrelt er in Nederland ook wel eentje rond bij iemand in de achtertuin.. de kansen zijn nog niet verkeken in ieder geval! ;)

Nou Max, vandaag zaten er nog zat op de ridge boven de botanical gardens. Moeilijk te zeggen hoe veel ik er gezien. Zo'n 40? Inclusief vier adulte mannetjes. Ze lieten zich prachtig zien. Uiteindelijk ook frustratiesoort Chinese Hill Babbler goed gezien. Siberian Accentors zijn hip.

Top Ben, ze zullen eind deze maand wel naar het noorden gaan.
